Turnkey Project: Design, validation, fabrication and installation of crane stops.



Design
- For design and calculations, we referred to ASME B30.2-2022, Section 2-1.8.2 Bridge and Gantry Bumpers.
- Calculated the maximum impact forces based on crane weight, travel speed and bumper modulus of elasticity.
- Reverse engineered a portion of the runway beam to create a model for the end stop, using SolidWorks 2023.
- FEA Analysis: maximum stresses of 4.3 ksi, well below the yield value of the common steel CSA G40.21 44W, with a Safety Factor over 10.
- Produced IFC drawings.
Procurement
- The stops were manufactured by Total Metal Works, CWB-certified welding shop according to the engineered drawings provided.
Installation
- The installation was carried out by our partner, Heese Industries – certified CWB/B-Pressure welding technician, with direct supervision and involvement from the undersigned P.Eng.
